Peter's World

"Wharariki Blush"

“Wharariki beach near Farewell Spit is a fabulously wild beach, with the Archway islands taking centre stage. The day before had been beautifully clear, but a nasty weather system was approaching from across the Tasman. So I wondered if sunrise could offer a good recipe for developing clouds in the west, yet retain enough clear air in the east, for the sun to light the sky? So I took that chance & left Takaka in the wee hrs & arrived here before dawn, in time to witness & record this spectacular display. Like they say, “red sky in the morning, shepherd’s warning!”
