"The Golden Years"

“Late autumn at Macetown, an historic gold mining town 15km up the valley from Arrowtown. This proved quite an adventure as you have to cross the Arrow river 22 times each way and I was in a rental 4WD, on my own.  When the water started lapping over the bonnet, I thought ‘bugger, don’t stop now!’ So after the big effort to get here, I was determined to capture something memorable and the afternoon light backlighting the scene proved to be just perfect! A wider panorama ‘Valley Of Gold’ is also available, with the old bakery on the left of the image.”
