"Slice Of Heaven"
“I visited this beautiful stretch of coast several years prior, but on that visit I really didn't exploit the full potential of this view. Advance five years and it was time for another crack! I made a reconnaissance trip the week before to check the Pohutukawa flowers, but they were a little later this year and needed more time to develop. Another week ought to do it? But when I arrived in the morning, I was greeted by heavy cloud - oh no! I decided to hang about and see if things might improve...and over several hours an off-shore breeze dispersed the clouds, the wind and sea gradually calmed and this sensational scene slowly unfolded in front of me. The way the afternoon sun was lighting the blooms and creating the dark shadows is very rare to see like this and is unlike any other Pohutukawa scene I’ve captured before. Definitely a little ‘Slice Of Heaven’!”
