“Taken in early September, I’d waited until a big anticyclone came over the south island & dumped a heavy load of snow, then flew down to catch it. After 3 days & 2500km, I had literally overdosed on beautiful snow capped mountain scenes, but I captured this classic image in the last hours before I flew home. The illusion is that I used a wide angle lens, but I never would have got close enough before the Merino sheep would have run away...so I used a longer lens & cropped the top & bottom off - which also eliminated an ugly wire fence below!”
