Peter's World

"Garden Of The Gods"

“With perfect weather for three days, we took a short cut and choppered in to Rainbow Pass, landing on a small rocky shelf at 2000m high up. It was a bit extreme, but with a small window of fine weather and such magnificent views, it was totally worth it!

After we scrambled over the ridge and into the national park, I was captivated by these alluring alpine gardens that flourish in this extreme environment, isn’t nature amazing? This grand vista looks due north, with the Sabine Valley on the left travelling up to meet Lake Rotoroa; in the middle lies Mt. Travers and on the right, the Travers Valley leads to the shores of Lake Rotoiti.

This tarn on Travers Saddle glimmered like an emerald and teased us to camp there the night, but we resisted the temptation and pushed on with our steep descent towards the Sabine River. Low clouds that morning had delayed our start and we ran out of daylight, so we camped on the track for the night. What an adventure!"

“When Peter delivered our pieces, we couldn't believe the incredible detail. The images on his website - impressive as they are - really didn't do our prints justice!“
