“After successfully capturing the moonrise ‘Rangitoto Kowhiti’, I decided to try & record a moonset the same night. Guessing Piha & Lion Rock might offer a unique composition, I camped with my dog on the beach and woke at 4am to start shooting. Almost two hours later, I recorded this image at 5.56am, whilst the moon’s intensity was still bright. Thirty minutes later, the sun began to rise in the east & it was fascinating to watch the moon’s luminance quickly diminish.”
